2 illegal miners die in galamsey pit at Talensi again
Two persons have been confirmed dead at Gbani in the
Talensi District of the Upper East Region after a mining pit
collapsed on them, MyNewsGh.com has confirmed.
The incident according to police sources available to this portal,
occurred on the noon of Thursday June 17, 2021 at the Obuasi
mining area, a popular spot for illegal mining activities in the Gbani enclave.
The deceased persons have been identified as Wahab Mahmud
aged 29 and Seidu Alhassan aged 35 who were removed from the
collapsed put by officials of the Ghana Police service
with support from some locals.

Police sources disclosed to MyNewsGh.com that preliminary
investigations revealed that, the deceased persons and three others went
to Isaac Mensah pit for their mining activities and at about midday,
a loose hanging rock fell on them leading to their instant death.
Both victims according to reports obtained from the Tongo
District Hospital after they were examined by one
Dr. Benjamin Ayitah revealed that, they sustained a severe head
injury and poly trauma which is the cause of death.
The bodies have since been released to
the respective families for burial.
The latest incident comes a little over a fortnight after a similar incident
occurred in the area claiming the lives of 10 underground miners.
